A Grassroots Movement Fueled by the Dance Floor

What began six years ago as a grassroots fundraiser has grown into a movement powered by San Diego’s dance community. House for the Houseless was built on a simple belief: the energy of the dance floor can help create real solutions for youth homelessness.

Through music, movement, and community, we bring dancers, artists, and advocates together to raise critical funds for youth living on the margins. Our mission is to support the life-changing work of Doors of Change and help create pathways from the streets to safety, stability, and housing.

Foundational Support from Generation One

House for the Houseless is made possible through foundational support from Generation One, which underwrites our operational costs and allows us to remain independent, grassroots, and community-led.

Because of this support, we can focus our energy on creating meaningful dance experiences while directing event proceeds to the street-level work of Doors of Change.

House for the Houseless is a project of Generation One, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN: 38-4228146, dedicated to cultivating uplifting energy and resourcing high-impact community leaders.

The Heart Behind the Movement

A Mission Rooted in Empathy

Founder Dr. Wes Henson built House for the Houseless from a place of empathy, loss, and a personal understanding of what can happen when people are left without a safety net.

In this short film, Dr. Henson shares the heartbreak that started it all: the loss of his mother to addiction on the streets, and how her memory continues to guide the mission.
